Update: Highway 118 Now Open but Delays Expected

A two-vehicle collision Monday night along Balcom Canyon Road resulted in the temporary closure of Highway 118.

Highway 118 is now open after last night's two-vehicle collision along Balcom Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

One of the vehicles, a freightliner with a trailer, hit two power poles. The accident happened around 7:20 p.m. 

No fatalities were reported.

"Occupants of both vehicles were transported to medical facilities just as a precautionary measure," said public information officer Miguel Duarte of the CHP.

Edison is expected to continue repairing the power poles today on Highway 118.

"Motorists should expect a 15 to 20-minute delay as we alternate lanes in the area," said Duarte.
