Get Out The Duct Tape and Shovel!

Have you ever had a house guest who refused to leave? Well I had to wage war recently with a 6'5" cockroach!

Have you ever had a house guest who simply loved being in your house so much...they won't leave?

Well.. I went through this horror recently with my daughters friend . ↘This young man was "between " apartments, jobs and apparently life. So my kindhearted child invited him to stay with us for a few days which quickly turned into a few weeks and my life was in shambles! My second bathroom was now his, complete with enough assortments of grooming products to care for the entire Kardashian clan.

Everyday he used anywhere from six to eight towels per shower! What? Why would anybody need six to eight towels? And never mind the fact that the duration of each shower lasted longer than the entire 2 VCR tapes of Gone With The Wind..which I watched to calm my frazzled nerves.( yes we still own VCR tapes)

So besides all this he insisted on drinking from my favorite mug with the butterflies on it and sitting on my TV watching chair complete with my super soft blanket. This was now a war zone! I hinted, complained, and even went as far as posting a notice of eviction on the refrigerator door...all to no avail.

Everyday was his last day as he sweetly emptied the trash and "helped" by breaking our ancient washer. I even tried calling everyone I knew to assist me in getting this 6'5" cockroach outta my house but he won everyone over with his warm smile, polite demeanor and constant promises to leave "tomorrow".

↘By week Seven.... I was completely conquered. White flag waving I gave up. I was just going to have to include him on my income tax as my new dependent and forget about life before him.

That's when the true miracle occurred. An old girlfriend of his decided to take him back and he promptly said goodbye and thank you and left! My sanity is still being restored slowly as I had to now get used to drinking out of my butterfly cup again as I sat in my TV chair complete with my blankie. I forgot where I hid all my towels and for the life of me I forgot about the second bathroom.

But normalcy did take place and I learned a very vital lesson; NEVER ALLOW anyone to come stay for a few days. NEVER.... Because a few days becomes a few weeks and could have possibly been a few years.

No...my hospitality days are over.. and I don't mind being the mean old mom....at least I will have my sanity and my house to myself! And if you believe that then I'm sure I can sell you some waterfront property in Tuscon.

✴Lets face it...people will take advantage of your kindness and go way too far..if you allow it...so I'm just waiting patiently for the next guest that won't leave...I bought the duct tape and shovel already...watch out!
