Injured at work? Forgetaboutit!

I now know that a person working a regular job who then injures them self on the job is pretty much out of luck. There's this thing called workers compensation... Heard of it? Good! But unless you have actually been held hostage by it you don't know the horrors involved. The horror starts in the way they calculate your amounts you will receive as an injured employee. They start by using the exact amount you were making AtTheTimeOfInjury. This can be very deceiving if your salary fluctuates as many professions do. If you were only working part time at the time of injury....you only get compensated for 2/3 of that pay. Let's say the following week your hours would have been 40+ and even some overtime....too bad. Doesn't count...AtTheTimeOfInjury is their battlecry and so the battle begins. How do you pay your bills? Rent? The kids shoes and clothes money? What about car insur and gas? It all is not a worry if you have that rainy day money for times like this. But in this blasted economy...its been raining A LongTime...so the funds are exhausted. You can't work while you're injured and depending on the injury it could be months. Bills pile up..landlords send out notices and banks threaten very real consequences. OMG! What a true mess. So..while your drowning in the rapids of workers comp...you still need to hurry and heal so you can go back to your job awaiting you...or it could just be gone. Yeah..there's rules and laws about that but reality soon kicks in and your stuck. So what do you do?? Simple...DoNotGetInjuredOnTheJob! Do I need to repeat that? Its not worth any of the aggravation and the little bit of help you get will destroy your composure, your bank account, your relationships and your sleep. If you do get injured I sincerely hope you have excellent credit because you will need a loan or two or a rich relative on speed dial. Am I suggesting you work injured which would be dangerously inappropriate and unhealthy? Certainly not!!! Just Don't Get Injured! Ps..If you've had only good experiences with this ordeal then you are blessed and ignore everything I just wrote! Peace.
