City Breaks Ground on Human Services Buildings

Construction on the Ruben Castro Center has officially began Friday.

After a many-year wait, the City of Moorpark broke ground Friday afternoon on the Ruben Castro Human Services Center.

A couple hundred children and adults attended the event where Mayor Janice Parvin and members of the Castro family, along with various agency heads spoke.

The center, named after community leader and long time Moorpark resident Ruben Castro, who died in December 2009, will house a medical center and various social service agencies in its 10,000-square-foot building and its 15,000-square-foot building.
